Donna Mae Roeder

Donna Mae (Tombling) Roeder, age 93, of Lincoln, formerly of Kearney passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at her home at Pemberly Place in Lincoln where she was surrounded by loved ones during her final days.

Born August 27, 1931 in rural Lancaster County, Nebraska to Roy and Laura (Gammel) Tombling. She graduated from Bennett High School in 1949. On April 16, 1954 she married Merwin G. Roeder in Bennett. Their son, Tobin, was born in 1958 and daughter Jeri in 1960.

As a young adult, Donna worked as a cashier at Leon's Food Mart and was very proud of being involved in the store's move from 17th and South to its current location on Winthrop Road.

Donna lived a life of volunteerism, serving as a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, and numerous other school and community organizations. She enjoyed bowling, camping, traveling with her family, and attending all her children's and later grandchildren's many activities. She worked as a printer for Zimmerman Printing in Kearney for over 25 years. After Merwin's passing, she volunteered at the First United Methodist Church food bank where she was a church member for 60 years.

Left to cherish her memory include her son Tobin and his wife Dixie of Kearney; daughter Jeri Roeder Schneider and her husband Rick of Lincoln; grandchildren Adam Schneider (Mia) of Omaha, Regan Schneider (Haeden) of Lincoln, and Rylee Schneider (Steven) of Yankton, South Dakota; seven step-grandchildren and families; sister Shirley Swift of Lincoln; sister-in-law Letha Steinauer of Mason City, Iowa; nieces Louayne Hoback, Tracy Thomsen, Kerry Balk, and nephew Tim (Monica) Steinauer.

Donna was preceded in death by Merwin, her husband of 58 years, her parents, and brother-in-laws Jean Swift and John Steinauer.

The family would like to thank the wonderful team, who became family, at Fallbrook Assisted Living and Pemberly Assisted Living & Memory Care for the loving care they provided for Donna.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 1pm to 4pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, NE. Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 2pm also at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. lincolnfh.com
