Pauline Noble, formerly of Wahoo and Lincoln, passed away at Casper, WY Friday, April 18. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; parents, Dorothy and Joseph Bowman; her sister, "Ellie" Lada; brother, Joseph Bowman (Carol) and her daughter, Karen Phillips.
Surviving her are daughter, Paula Fehringer (Ralph); son, Randy (Tammy); son-in-law, Jackie Phillips; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mom was born in Barnard, MO on July 22,1933. She started school in Punkin Center, MO and graduated from Northeast High School in Lincoln. She married Albert on June 15, 1952 in her parents back yard.
She was a strong and loving wife, mother and friend. She drew her strength from her faith. She loved her extended family and enjoyed going back to Lincoln at least for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
She followed her husband, Albert, to Germany twice with three young children. The first was by ship for 8 days across the Atlantic with a toddler, a three and four year old. Her destination was a foreign land where a few spoke her language to an apartment with furniture, curtains, dishes and pans all assigned by the Army. She managed to make a home for her family and help other Army Wives assimilate to life overseas.
She worked to make her family feel safe and normal while Albert was deployed once to Korea and twice to Viet Nam. This was before the Internet and cell phones so the primary communication was through the U.S. Mail. Sometimes there would be near a month before she heard from him and then a bunch of mail at once. She stayed strong for her children through this and remained a support for other wives.
She usually had at least one dog and sometimes a cat or two. She liked to bowl and even coached the children's league. She enjoyed watching the Huskers, her soaps and her flowers. She was there for her children even when they became adults. Her children, their spouses, the grandchildren and great grandchildren with were the most important thing to her.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. A funeral service will occur Monday, April 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
