George Leslie Verbeek, 79, Roca passed away December 20, 2025 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, NE after a short illness. He was born to Willie and Donna (Christian) Verbeek on December 29,1945 in Lincoln NE.
He grew up on the family farm near Roca. He Graduated from Sprague/Martell High school in 1964. He spent his life doing what he loved and enjoyed most, farming and trucking. He started his trucking business in 1980. He also was a top grain broker and advocate for many years; helping set up the legislation with the
government to have small grain broker businesses bonded. He was always a social person and never met a stranger. When he was younger he had fun bartending at Roca Bar meeting new friends and chatting with everyone there and playing pool and drinking beer. He also loved going dancing and wasn’t one to sit still. Driving
fast cars fit perfectly into his constant going mentality. He owned several fast sports cars over the years, but his favorite was his 1962 Impala Super Sport that he loved to drive and drive fast. He was very proud of his grandson Brandon racing cars. Unfortunately his health prevented him from watching him race as much as
he would have liked to. He loved riding his motorcycle and took many trips to Sturgis over the years. With all these different adventures through his life he had many entertaining stories to share. As he got older he enjoyed visiting with friends over coffee at Shoemakers every morning. And going crop watching. He was an
avid husker football and volleyball fan. He also loved cheering on and watching all the grandkids multiple sporting events. He enjoyed his weekly Saturday breakfasts with stepson-in-law Toby Gomez. Where the conversations were as entertaining as the company.
