
Harry Allen Larson, 90 Harry Allen Larson, 90, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2016 in Lincoln, NE. The grandson of homesteading Swedish immigrants who settled in Nance County, Nebraska, Harry was the only child of Victor Larson and Edith (Hoaglund) Larson. Harry was born in rural Nance County, Nebraska in 1925. He was elected President of Genoa, Nebraska’s High School class of 1942 where he lettered in football, basketball and track. Only 17 when graduating from high school, Harry needed permission from Victor and Edith to join the Navy where he served in the Pacific theater on the USS Intrepid until the end of World War II. On board ship, Harry played on several championship basketball teams. Following the war, he used the GI Bill to enroll at Nebraska Nebraska Central College, where he met his future wife, Doris Jean Lantz. They were married in Red Oak, Iowa in 1950. Harry completed his B.S. in Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He remained a devoted Cornhusker his entire life making annual contributions to the Alumni fund and attending football, basketball and track events for more than 50 years. Harry was a manager for the John Deere company for over 30 years. He worked for the company in Moline, Illinois, O'Neill, Fremont and Omaha, Nebraska and Kansas City, Missouri and was beloved by colleagues and implement dealers. After retiring, he traveled extensively, visiting five continents, Alaska and the Caribbean. Harry was a loyal churchgoer and community volunteer for the Kansas City area Foodbank. Harry and Doris Jean (deceased 1980) have two daughters - Recca Larson and Alison Larson (Vincent Powers) who will greatly miss his kindness, good humor, generosity and quiet dignity. Harry is also survived by granddaughter Courtney Powers (Washington DC) and grandson Larson Ross (Portland, OR).
