In Loving Memory of Helen
Helen was a devoted wife, loving mother, and the heart of her family. She raised five children with strength, grace, and unwavering dedication. During the many times her husband's work required overnight travel, Helen carried the full weight of parenting, ensuring her children were cared for, guided, and loved.
Family meant everything to Helen, and she made sure they created lasting memories together. Each year, she planned family vacations that took them to many destinations—often traveling in their trailer. From fishing trips in Canada to exploring Mexico and touring much of the western United States, those adventures became cherished moments her family will never forget.
Helen was also a wonderful cook, known especially for her homemade runzas. Before camping trips, she would bake them fresh and warm them in the trailer oven on the first day—a simple gesture that became a family tradition.
In an era without school buses, Helen somehow managed the daily challenge of getting children to and from three different schools—a testament to her organization, determination, and love.
She ran a structured and loving home, teaching responsibility by assigning chores and ensuring they were completed. As her children grew and began lives of their own, Helen embraced a new chapter, working part-time in beauty shops and exploring her creativity through floral design and crafting.
After the passing of her husband, Don, Helen continued to be the steady force of her family, carrying on traditions and keeping everyone connected. She also found joy in travel, joining friends on trips across the United States and abroad, including memorable journeys to Greece, Turkey, Alaska, and South America.
Helen was a member for many years at Southview Christian Church, where she was active on the Board, an Elder, and involved with the Food Network program. She found great fulfillment in her faith and fellowship while crafting and quilting with the ladies at church.
Helen spent her final years at Chatelaine Residences, where she gathered often with friends playing cards and games. She enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called her GG.
She will be remembered for her strength, her warmth, her devotion to family, and the countless memories she created for those she loved. Her legacy will live on in the lives of her children and all who were blessed to know her.
