Helena immigrated to the United States with her parents and brother, arriving at Ellis Island in 1955. She grew up in New York City and for a brief time she was an actress under the stage name of Tammy Troy. She met her first husband, Michael DeCicco, there. They lived in New York for a short time then moved to Italy. Eventually, they moved back to New York City.
Later they moved to Arizona and they were "parents" at a boys home. Helena had fond memories and tales to share about her "boys". They then moved on to California where Michael pursued his acting career and Helen worked on the 14th floor in a skyrise building. She would joke, "She loved her job, but kept applying for others on the first floor. Wanting to be close to the ground in case of fire (ladders don't reach past the 13th floor you know) and earthquakes (because that's a long way to fall and I don't fly!)."
Helena moved to Lincoln to be closer to her family. Here she met and married her second husband. Helena became a Stephens Minister in 2011 through Christ's Place.
Helena was preceded in death by her stepfather and mother; Mychajlo and Oksanna (Susan) Horbatko; brothers, Paul Horbatko, Peter (Horbatko), Troy and Michael Horbatko; husbands, Michael DeCicco and Philip Mora; and great niece, Ellery Troy.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lois Troy; nephews and their families, Peter Troy II, (Tara) and Jason Troy (Cathy Kottwitz); great niece; Emely Troy; great nephew, James McCombs (TeriAnn Isaacson), great great nieces; Penelope and Callaway McCombs.
