Jackie Ray (Jack) McDowell, 82, was born December 3, 1939, in Decatur County, Iowa, to Lester Harold and Nina Muriel (Young) McDowell, and passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Jack loved his family and friends and was always there to help with anything that was needed. He loved anything Nebraska Cornhusker related; football, basketball, volleyball, etc. Jack was an excellent bowler and bowled on several leagues over the years. He was also involved in pool playing leagues and played shuffleboard. He loved fishing, playing poker, country music, and horse races. He loved spending time with his grandkids, playing games and taking them fishing. He was a long-time member of the Eagles Club in Lincoln. Jack worked for Standard Meat Company for 41 years as a meatcutter and supervisor and retired in 2002.
Jack is survived by his loving children, Stacey (Kevin) Dietiker, Darcey (Lon) McAllister, Kim (Tom) Garay, Angie (Bill) Zessin, Coleen (Walt) Hays; sister, Joyce Burkey; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Connie (Svoboda) McDowell, parents Les and Muriel McDowell, 6 sisters, 1 brother, 5 brothers-in-law and 1 sister-in-law.
