Jacqueline Mae Sheldon, 93, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, September 5. She was born on July 9, 1932, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Howard and Ana (Chaloupka) Crook. She joined a sister, Darlene. She attended Clinton Elementary, Whittier Junior High, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. Just after high school she began a 45-year career with Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph where she was a long-distance operator. She made many life-long friends there and was devoted to providing the best customer service she could.
In 1958 she married Richard (Dick) Sheldon, and they made their home in Lincoln. Two years later a daughter, Shelley, was born, and their family was complete.
In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, participating in many leagues, and joined a dance club with Dick. After Dick retired they enjoyed bus trips to baseball parks around the country, along with a few Cornhusker football bowl games. She was a member of Indian Hills Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dick; parents; and sister, Darlene Schafer.
She is survived by daughter Shelley (Tim) Pratt; niece Sharon (Bill) Crosier; nephew Wayne (Peggy) Schafer; and many other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, at 11:00 at Indian Hills Community Church, 1000 South 84th Street, in Lincoln. Visitation will be one hour before the service. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 11, at 10:30 at Lincoln Memorial Park. Enter at gate 2.
