Burt Young, age 89, of Lincoln passed away on September 29, 2016. He was born on August 4, 1927 in Decatur, Iowa to Frank and Ressie (Creal) Young. He served in the Merchant Marines in World War II and later advocated for Merchant Mariner rights. Burt married Lois (Borgman) on January 23, 1949. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the College of Pharmacy. He practiced in California and Nebraska at Hamiltons, Wagey Drug, Four Star, and Osco Drug, as well as owning his own business: Young’s Plaza Drug. A Shriner, and member of St Paul United Methodist, he also enjoyed travel, cribbage, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Burt is survived by his daughter: Joan (Doug) Daharsh, his grandchildren: Emily (Curt) Suing, and Lance Daharsh, his great grandchild: Sawyer, and his best friend: Elaine Boswell, all of Lincoln, along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members. He is preceded in death by parents, wife Lois, and brother Earl. Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Hospital or St. Paul United Methodist Church.
