She was born on August 3, 1929 in Lincoln, NE to Orval & Margery (North) McDonald.
She was the first of two children.
Janet’s greatest love was her family, and she enjoyed staying involved in their lives
more than anything. She loved sharing and hearing stories about past and present
family adventures. To her family, she was the most beloved mother and grandmother in
the world. She was also a published author, co-owner of Lesoings’ Truck & Radiator,
collector of antiques, and lover of old movies and musicals.
She shared her creative gifts with all those whose lives she touched, whether it was
making flower arrangements for weddings, scrapbooking, sewing and creating
handmade Barbie doll clothes or santas, painting gourds, or decorating for the holidays
to name a few. She loved the Mother’s Day tradition of having her family plant flowers in
her brightly colored pots and watching them grow and bloom all season long. She
always kept her numerous candy jars filled with sweets which is one of many special
memories her grandchildren will remember.
Jan is survived by her dear sister, Marilyn “Mickey” Metzger of Lincoln, NE and her
children; Rebekah (Mark) Cibuzar of Wayzata, MN; Melisah (Jim) Rea of Omaha, NE;
Cynthia Rung of Lincoln, NE; Dan (Jennifer) Lesoing of Lincoln, NE; Chris Ehlers of
Muskogee, OK and Debra Jiskra of Lincoln, NE. She adored her grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and her nieces.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband Julius Lesoing Jr., Daughter, Layne Ehlers;
Son, Terry Lesoing; and Grandson, Tobin Jiskra.
A private burial and Celebration of Life will be held at Lincoln Memorial on February 3,
2022.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can go to Voices of Hope, a non-profit organization near
and dear to her heart; founded by her niece, Marcee Metzger, of Lincoln.
