

Jennel Kay Mayfield, age 69, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 after a long hard fought battle with cancer. Jennel was born June 7, 1954 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to John and Irene Maier Reifschneider.
Jennel was in the graduating class of 1972 at Bayard High. She went on to get her Associate's Degree at Grand Island School of Business. She was united in marriage to James Mayfield on November 9, 1974. She worked at the Journal Star as a Typesetter and later moved on to Lincoln Public Schools where she spent 37 years working in the Graphics Department.
She was an avid traveler and connoisseur of Starbucks. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Keith Harkin, watching football (Packers and Huskers), and playing games while spending time with her granddaughter.
Jennel is survived by her loving husband of 49 years James Mayfield, daughters Emily Cardin and Sara (Tom) Hanna, granddaughter Adalyn Michelle Cardin, her dear friend Lori Matthiessen, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Loretta Moree, brother Gary Reifschneider, and many aunts and uncles.
