Joyce I. Higgins

Joyce attended schools in Garland and North Platte, Nebraska, before moving to Lincoln in 1951 where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953. She then attended Lincoln School of Commerce.

In 1956, she married Lyle Higgins at Redeemer Lutheran Church. At the time she retired she was working for Ameritas Life Insurance.

She was a member of Club 15, VFW Auxiliary and Frank Woods Telephone Auxiliary.

Survivors include son, Kelly (Pam) Higgins of Independence, Missouri, and daughter Stacye Higgins of Lincoln, Nebraska. Grandchildren Brian Higgins of Lincoln, Sean (Erica) Higgins of Austin, Texas, Chelsea (Kyle) Lindgren of Lincoln, Jeremy David Higgins of Lincoln, Robyn (Michael) Valenti of Kansas City, Missouri, Corey (Ali) Higgins of Lincoln. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Glenn Higgins of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Selma (Beckman) Sieck, her husband, Lyle V. Higgins, son, Kenton V. Higgins, brothers, Lester and Melvin Sieck and sister, Gladys Haas.

Visitation will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, on March 22, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
