Julie Yardley, 69, of Lincoln, died May 8, 2025. She was born in Columbus, Nebraska on December 16, 1955 to Walter and Lucille (Schroeder) Kopetzky. On November 16, 1991, she married Roy Yardley at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln. Julie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to all throughout her lifetime.
She was a proud 1974 graduate of Scotus Central Catholic High School in Columbus and received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Kearney State College. For many years, she was the manager of the N Card office at UNL, assisting thousands of students, faculty and staff until her retirement in 2022. Working on campus was a perfect fit for a huge Husker fan like Julie.
She had a big heart and was generous with anyone in need. She also was an animal lover and always had at least one dog (many times more than one) and the occasional cat in her home.
Julie is survived by her husband Roy; son DJ Yardley (Tess Barnes); sister Kathy Haas; brothers John (Patty) Kopetzky and Kent (Amy) Kopetzky; in-laws Lora Yardley, Sid Yardley, Mary Osborne (Matt Clough), Owen (Laurie) Yardley, and Lisa Yardley; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Julie was preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Donle and Margy Yardley; sister Jeanne DeRuyscher; brothers-in-law Carl DeRuyscher, Raleigh Haas, Ken Cauble, Ron Osborne, and Jack Wyant.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16 at St. Joseph Church, 1940 S. 77th Street in Lincoln. The family requests that we honor Julie’s love for the Huskers by wearing red to the funeral.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
