Kathryn Lucille Liesveld

Kathryn Lucille (Weber) Liesveld was born January 8, 1932 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Andrew & Leota (Housel) Weber and passed away on March 4, 2021 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 24 days. Kathryn was baptized October 7, 1934; she professed her faith at Firth Reformed Church on November 24, 1947 in Firth, Nebraska. Following her graduation from Firth High School in 1949, she attended the University of Nebraska and received her teaching certificate. She taught school in several area country schools for several years. On August 24, 1953, Kathryn was united in marriage to Anthony Henry Liesveld at Firth Reformed Church in Firth, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Charles (Chuck) and two daughters, Penny and Jayne. They farmed in the Holland area before moving to the Emerald area in 1961. They purchased their own farm in 1976, moved to the Pleasant Dale area, and remained there until they retired from farming and moved to The Legacy in Lincoln, Nebraska. Kathryn was a homemaker and loved to sew, bake cakes, garden and read. She was a member of Hope Community Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, Senior Citizens in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska, Peppy Dames Extension club as well as the Pleasant Dale American Legion Auxiliary Unit 354. She served on the election board for many years and volunteered at the Veterans hospital and county and state fairs. Kathryn was a very creative person and loved to sew and bake. She made many cakes for birthdays, showers, confirmations, graduations and weddings. She created more in frosting than most can do on paper with a pencil. Tony & Kathryn enjoyed traveling and the sunshine of south Texas where they spent many winters during their retirement years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother of one son and 2 daughters, grandma of eight and great-grandma of 17.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony, in 2016, two brothers- Lloyd (Eileen) Weber & Clifford Weber and two sisters-Charlene (Irvan Schoonveld/Roland Beach) Beach & Irene (Lester) Essink; Plus aunts uncles, cousins and many, many friends.

Survivors cherishing Kathryn’s memory include one son: Chuck (Cindy) Liesveld of Lincoln, Nebraska and two daughters, Penny Freyer of Omaha, Nebraska and Jayne (Ron) Kapke of Pleasant Dale, Nebraska. Eight grandchildren- Mollie (Mike) Middleton; Travis (Heather) Liesveld, Josh (finance Abigail) Morris; Jennifer (Jason) Hultsch; Heather (Paul) Terry; Ashley (Fabian) Villanueva-Enriquez; Adam (Beth) Kapke; Katie (Harley) Epp and 17 great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 5-7pm, with family 5-6pm, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. 6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 11, 2021, 10:00am, at Hope Community Church. 4700 S. Folsom St, Lincoln, NE. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. 6700 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE.
