Lawrence Gene Huenink was born May 31,1930 in rural Firth, Nebraska to Nicholas A. and Leona E. (Topp) Huenink. He graduated from Panama High School in 1947 and joined the Army in 1949, serving one year of active duty and six years of reserve duty during the Korean War. Larry married Joan King on Nov. 14, 1951. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post #280 in Bennet, NE for 60 years. He began a career as an electrician and eventually joined the I.B.E.W. Local #265 and was a member for 55 years. Larry and son, Scott started their own company, Electrical Enterprises Inc. in 1983. He worked at the business until retirement.
A loving man and dedicated worker, Larry will be missed by all, including his wife Joan, daughter Jody, of Lincoln, sons: Scott (Michelle) of Panama, Chris (Denise) of Hickman and Tim (Goldrie) of Colorado.
7 grandchildren: Amy (Sean), Lacey, Katie (Shawn), Tabitha, Colby (Rachel), Asheley and Forrest; 5 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Samantha, Lydia, Sophie and Shelby; sister Marilyn McCharness, brother Marvin (Marsha), sister's-in-law Arlene Huenink and Doris King, many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Richard, mother and father in-law Clark and Lydia King; son in-law Lane Hoss; brother's in-law: Keith and Harlan King, Jake Detmer, Clarence Palmer, Glen McCharness, sister's in-law: Vera Palmer, Ruby King, Gladys Detmer, nephews: Doug Detmer and Clark Palmer.
