

Linda was born on October 21, 1948 in Lincoln, Nebraska to her parents, Norm and Darlene (Stewart) Gammel. She graduated from Northeast High School in Lincoln. She then received her teaching degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Linda taught school at Meadow Grove and Tilden, Nebraska. Linda transitioned into over the road trucking with her husband, Doug Grove, for a few years. She then worked at Centel in Administration. Linda married the love of her life, Gary Hansel on November 18, 1979. They raised four boys together in Lincoln, Nebraska. She ended her career in Computing Services with Lincoln Public Schools.
Linda enjoyed motorcycle travel with her husband, crocheting, baking, reading, feeding the wildlife, including the squirrels and birds. She loved spending time with her grandkids, traveling, going out to eat, going to movies, getting pedicures and manicures with her granddaughters and lunch dates with friends. Her family fondly remembers her homemade peanut brittle and fudge.
Linda is survived by her brother; Bob (Adele) Gammel, her sons; Shawn Hansel, Tyler (Audra) Hansel, Gary (Stephanie) Hansel, grandchildren; Chloe Hansel, Noah Hansel, Jovie Hansel, Adilynn Sonthana-Barak, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Gary Hansel, her son; Ronnie Hansel, her parents; Norm and Darlene Gammel, and many extended family members.

A celebration of life for Linda will be held Monday, September 29, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S 14TH ST, LINCOLN, NE 68512.
