I knew Lois when I worked at UNL. She was always friendly and knowledgeable when we scheduled photography. We also appreciated her participation in professional development and the University of Nebraska Office Professionals Association. Her long career and dedication to serving the university was truly impressive! Sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Lois was a joy.  She always made you feel special and Nebraska Hall was a better place when she was at work.  Her institutional knowledge of Publications and Photography was flawless.  She knew where to find photos and negatives from the many decades she worked at UNL and even those that pre-dated her.  When I started at UNL, the photo team was transitioning from film to digital.  Lois kept every negative and print and worked to make sure each item was cataloged for easy retrieval.  After the switch to digital, she was able to go back to the years before her time at UNL and add photos to the directory.  The negatives and prints overflowed more than 28 four-drawer file cabinets and when they were transferred to Love Library, she continued to work from the library helping with their file needs.  She told me her love for UNL kept her young.

Lois was so kind to me when I started at UCOMM. Our offices were just steps apart. I loved listening to her stories. She talked a lot about her family. She was very proud of you all. I had the privilege to spend lots of time with her in the office, at UNOPA, lunches - jamming on Guitar Hero with her ;) She was the youngest 90 year old I know! We have lost a library of information and kindness. Rest in peace, sweet Lois <3

What can be said about Lois? In her latter years, she was everyone's favorite grandma, but there's a lot more than that. To those of us who had the honor of working with her at the university, she was the memory of the place, of its visual record.

I can attest: as a colleague, she was thoroughly professional, and on top of that thoroughly *nice* to work with; proof you can be both. Personally, as a college student, going through all a college student goes through, Lois was a gift to me in the way-back-when, as I worked as a student employee in Photo Services. So she was a colleague, yes, and a task-assigner too. But Lois was also a mother, and that was perhaps her highest calling. To a mixed-up college kid, that mattered.

Heaven got an upgrade on Saturday.

Lois was such an important team member in University Communications at Nebraska. What a wonderful colleague who was thankfully so knowledgable about the very valuable, historic photos in the UNL collection. Late in her career she worked alongside library staff and student workers to digitize a vast photo collection, saving our collective history.  Plus she just brought sunshine into any room she was in. Her can-do attitude was infectious. Truly inspiring.
