Marsha Kay Hurst

Marsha Kay Hurst passed away September 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 21, 1949, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Milton Frank Burchett and Vera Morine (Trimble) Burchett both of whom have preceded her in death.

She graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1967. She was a good student in math and pursued further education in accounting while working for the University of Nebraska. She spent most of her working years as CFO for Cormack Enterprises and retired from there in 2011. She married John Hurst on May 21, 1983.

Marsha enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She loved her pets and had several dogs and cats in her lifetime. Peekachoo, her current Pomeranian family member will miss her. After Marsha retired, she and her husband, John, enjoyed travelling regularly to timeshares they owned.

Marsha is survived by her husband, John, and son Matt (Amy) Loos and stepson Scott (Marly) Hurst both families of Lincoln. Marsha had seven grandchildren Beth (Shaylee) Flax of Colby, Kansas, Josie (Eli) Lenton of Lincoln; Kailey Starlin of Lincoln, Maizy Hurst of Lincoln, and Hayden Hurst of Lincoln; Hunter (Colbi) Larkins, and Addison Wolfe of Lincoln. Marsha had one great-grandchild, Sophie Larkins. She is also survived by her sister, Connie (Warren) Lyon and three nephews Christopher (Rebekah) Lyon of Monument, Colorado, Joshua (Amy) Lyon of Lincoln, and Mitchell (Sarah) Lyon of Aurora, Nebraska.

A celebration of Marsha’s life will be at 2 P.M. Friday, September 16, 2022, Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Christopher Lyon will be officiating. Memorials can be sent to Capitol Humane Society.
