Myrna Jean Van Vliet

Myrna Jean Van Vliet, age 90 of Lincoln, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Born in Omaha, NE to Elmer Johnson & Myrtle Bricker. Myrna Jean graduated from Louisville High School, May 1942 and the Lincoln School of Commerce, June 1943. After graduation she went to work for Peoples Accident Insurance Company, in Lincoln. After raising 5 children, Myrna Jean returned to work at Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of NE. She worked there from Feb. 1981 – June 2002, as a General Clerk in the Farmer Underwriting Dept. A co-worker was quoted as saying “She was an example to many of hard work and dedication.” Myrna Jean married John E. Van Vliet April 21, 1946, in Lincoln. John preceded Myrna Jean in death along with one son David Van Vliet and her daughter Jean Ann Van Vliet. She is survived by her sons John E. (Mary) Van Vliet, Jr, James A. (Kathy) Van Vliet, Ralph L. (Tami) Van Vliet; 13 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren (2 more on the way); sister Jaunita Rhodes; brother Bernie (Marlene) Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Memorial service 12:30PM Friday, February 20, 2105 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 S. 14th St. Lincoln, NE. Memorials to the family for a later designation.
