

Nancy Jean Kinnan was born on November 29, 1961, in Tilden, Nebraska to Darrel and Shirley Kinnan. She lived in Oakdale, Nebraska until 1965 when the family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Nancy attended Prescott Elementary School before attending the Nebraska School for the Deaf. Nancy graduated from the Nebraska School for the Deaf in May of 1982.
After graduation, Nancy worked various jobs before retiring from Bryan Health in 2000.
After retirement, Nancy was active in many civic and Church charities and activities. Like her Mom, if the Church doors were open, she was there. She was a long-time member of Capital City Christian Church. As a member of the Church, she took part in a number of missions trips and was active in many outreach activities, most recently the clothing drive.
Nancy was born deaf. However, she didn’t let this limit or deter her. She participated in many team sports including Volleyball and Softball. She was active in the deaf community, participating in many events and trips.
Nancy made friends wherever she went and instantly welcomed any friendly or familiar face with a smile and a hug. She was one of the biggest Nebraska Cornhusker fans; rarely ever missing a football or basketball game.
Nancy passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on January 19, 2026.
She is survived by her father, her 3 brothers Darrel, Dennis, and Dana, 7 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews, and 8 great great nieces and nephews. She joins her Mom, grandparents, sister in-laws, and 1 nephew in heaven.
A visitation for Nancy will be held on Sunday, January 25 from 2pm – 5pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 26 at 10:30am at Capital City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68505 with a lunch to follow at 11:30am. A burial will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, Nebraska on January 26, 2026, at 3:30pm.
