Neola Joy Hromadka

Neola Joy Hromadka, lovingly known by all as "Granny," age 95, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. She was born on August 18, 1929, to Orville and Florence (Larson) Linden in Scandia, Kansas.

Neola graduated from Republic Kansas High School in 1947. After high school, she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where she met Wayne. They married on October 4, 1953, building a life together and raising their family with love and laughter. Neola had a strong work ethic and spent part of her career at the Soil Conservation office before later working at Milder Manor, where she made even more lifelong friends. She had a special ability to connect with people and made friends everywhere she went.

Neola was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She cherished time spent with family and found great joy in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for those around her.

Neola had a love for life’s simple joys. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, hearing Ken Siemek predict the weather, chatting with her Avon clients, and taking great pride in caring for her yard. Her family holds dear many special memories, including the stories she would tell, the sound of her laugh, and the way she always showed up to cheer them on when they competed in sports.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jacqueline (Jim) Sturm; sister-in-law, Opal Linden; grandchildren, Jamie (Larry) Wood, Justin (Heather) Harris, and Jason (Laurie) Wood; great-grandsons, Jameson, Damien, Easton, and Reece; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Neola was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Florence (Larson) Linden; her brothers, Gaylord and Dennis (Doc) Linden; her sister, Marlene Linden; her daughter, Sandra Wood; and the father of her children, Wayne.

A visitation for Neola will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 840 S. 17th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. A private family burial will follow.

Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.

Neola’s love and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed
