

Peggy J. Summers (Zeitz), age 96, passed peacefully in her sleep on January 13, 2023. A 50-year resident of Lincoln, Peggy was under the excellent care of the staff at Southlake Village since 2015. A native of Missouri, she grew up in Jefferson City, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1948 from the University of Missouri with a degree in Sociology. She was married to Clifford Summers in 1948.
Peggy leaves two sons, Randy (Carole) of Wichita KS and Larry (Paula) of Omaha. Randy’s children are Stephanie Spommer (Matt) of Colorado Springs CO, Kelly Stone (Ramsey) of Dallas TX, and Amy Keller (Breau) of Wichita KS. Larry’s children are Emily Summers (Jack Rea) of Chicago, and Andy Summers (Dana Schnettgoeke) of St. Louis. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents Arthur and Florence Zeitz, brother Art Jr., and husband Clifford L. Summers.
Peggy leaves many friends through her activities in philanthropic and social groups as well as her career in the Purchasing Department at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln. Peggy was a 76-year member of PEO, serving as chapter President in both Missouri and Nebraska. Additionally, she volunteered many hours at St. Elizabeth gift shop and was an active member of the Eastridge Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. She and Cliff were continuously active in the boys’ activities, working as coaches and volunteers at many sporting events. These sports groups were the source of many longtime, very close friends. She was an avid Missouri Tiger fan and, later, even the Huskers.
Peggy will be remembered fondly for her generosity of her time and talents, megawatt smile, infectious laugh, impressive shoe collection, handcrafted sequined Christmas stockings and elaborately decorated holiday sugar cookies. The family would like to thank the staff at Southlake Village, her PEO sisters, and numerous friends for the kindness, care, and compassion they have shown Peggy and her family during her final years.

Family visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 2 :00 pm, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, NE. A private family burial will follow the visitation. lincolnfh.com
