Peter N Jensen

Peter N. Jensen age 92 of Lincoln passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 1, 1923 in Salina, Kansas to Christian M. and Agnes M. (Christensen) Jensen. He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 in the South Pacific. He served on the USS McClelland, which was anchored in Tokyo Bay at the time of the peace signing with Japan. Peter married Doris Nell Hjelm on December 22, 1946 in Salina, Kansas. They moved to Fort Collins where he finished his education at Colorado A&M (CSU). He worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service in Kansas and Nebraska for 30 years as State Range Conservationist. After retirement Peter and Doris traveled extensively and were active volunteers. Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Doris; son, Gregory Jensen of Lincoln; Karen (Deryl) Travis, Jr. of Lincoln; granddaughters, Sarah (Mark) Thober of Columbia, MD; Carmen Travis of Cincinnati, OH; grandsons, Caleb (Asia) Jensen of New York, NY; Joel (Britni) Jensen of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren, Porter, Mary, Reece, Peter and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence and Donald, sister, Norma Plummer. The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
