

Robert "Bob" Eugene Elwood, 80, Lincoln, NE died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Bob was born July 31,1934 in Red Oak, IA to Joe and Gladys (Carper) Elwood. He was raised in Elliott, IA and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln on a track scholarship. A member of the Varsity track team, he set many track records in the mile and 2 mile events. He continued to run most of his life and often won his age group, no matter the distance, including the Lincoln Marathon. He worked briefly for Cushman and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 32 years. He was a volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and enjoyed watching his little brothers grow up. Bob was a huge supporter of NU athletics. Although from Iowa, once Bob attended UNL he became a life long Cornhusker. While in college he worked the home football games and continued to work almost every home football game until his death. As a member of the NU Event Staff he often worked basketball, track and baseball games too. He married Amy “Karen” Reisher and has three children, Cheryl, Michael and Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Karen. He is survived by his wife Ardeth (Curtis) Elwood, children, Cheryl Koeller and husband Jon of Lenexa, KS, Michael Elwood and wife Lisa of Kansas City, MO, Douglas Elwood and wife Jeannine Zeromsky of Broomfield, CO, grandchildren David Koeller of Springfield, MO and Benjamin Koeller of Lenexa, KS; brothers Bill Elwood of Grandview, TX, Gordon Elwood and wife Mary of Glenwood, IA, Mary Kille of Dumas, TX; Joe Elwood, Jr. of Elliott, IA, Warren Elwood and wife Virginia of Red Oak, IA, Jean Pope and husband Charlie of Omaha, Linda Gute and husband Vern of Modale, IA, Judy Blay and husband Robert of Villisca, IA and Ed Elwood and wife Vickie of Elliott, IA; sisters-in-law, Sandra Elwood of Grand Island, NE; step children Dale and Lisa Kistaitis of Lincoln,Todd and Kristin Pospisil of Warner Robins, GA, step-grandchildren Ashley and Macy Kistaitis of Lincoln, Sarah and Will Pospisil of Warner Robins, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services: Tuesday, Jan. 6, 11 AM, St Mark's United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers donations in Bob's memory are suggested to the Lincoln Big Brothers/Big Sisters or the UNL Home Run Club.
