Mr. Robert L. Waldman

Robert “Bob” Lee Waldman, 87, of Lincoln, died with his family by his side on June 8, 2014 at Grace Pointe, Tabitha in Lincoln. Memorial Service will be Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 10 AM, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 So. 14th Street, with inurnment following in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Bob was born January 5, 1927 to Alfred and Mary (Kenfield) Waldman in Milford, NE. The family moved to Grand Island and he graduated from Grand Island High School in 1945. Bob served his country in the US Army from November 12, 1945 until his honorable discharge on May 31, 1947. In 1948 he was united in marriage to Corinne Harrington and the couple had two daughters, Susan (husband, Rodney) Peterson, Doniphan, and Beth (husband, Dennis) Garbers, Lincoln. Bob later married Grace Mason on April 8, 1982. He began his career as a plumber in Lincoln. He became a Master Plumber and mechanical engineer working for Natkin and Green Plumbing. He worked for Green Plumbing until his retirement at age 80. Bob had a great love for Husker Football, golf, and outdoor sports, hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. In addition to his wife and daughters, Bob leaves to mourn his passing one brother, Charles Waldman; five granddaughters, Amy (Peterson) Franzen of Kearney, Sara (Peterson) and Mark Loman of Grand Island, Holly (Garbers) and Erik Root of Lincoln, Carrie (Peterson) and Quentin Kavan of Albuquerque, NM, Katie (Garbers) and Doug Rehbein of Lincoln; 14 great-grandchildren, Rachel and Marissa Kermmoade, Gus and Claire Franzen, Whitney and Libby Loman, Brecken, Sawyer, and Casen Kavan, Logan, Gavin, Greyson, and Easton Root, and Joelle Rehbein; step-sons, David and Kimberly Mason of Coeur d'Alene, ID and Louis and Gloria Mason of Lincoln; and grandchildren, Trevor, Kyle, and Joshua Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Starlin Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
