The son of William H. Drown and Geraldine (Briggs) Drown. He was raised by Geraldine and Sheldon Dustin. Sheldon was the Father he knew and referred to as such his whole life. Rodney enjoyed fishing and hunting as a kid with his brothers and attended school until the 8th grade in Chesterville, Maine. He always had his critters for pets that he took care of as a young boy. He also enjoyed spending time with his Grandparents that he was extremely close to. Rodney was an incredibly talented musician. He sang, played guitar, some piano, and harmonica. He was in a band for most of his life. He led the band Sage and Cinnamon with many talented musicians. He left Maine for Nebraska and served in the United States Air Force and stayed in Nebraska the rest of his life.
He married Joann J. Poppe on September 18, 1967. They were married for 23 years until her passing. He then married Aletta M. Mudge on November 3, 1990 and they were best friends and life partners the remainder of his life. They were married for 34 years.
Rodney wore many different hats in his life. He was a musician, landscape and gardening business owner, a bar owner, son, father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He proudly owned StageCoach Inn Bar and Grill in Cortland, Nebraska and later owned R&L Lawn Tech in Lincoln. He also worked in landscaping at the University of Nebraska for years and was a proud Husker football and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed his morning coffee with his Village Inn family every day he could make it there. He lived his adult life in Cortland with Joann and, later, in Lincoln with Aletta.
