

She attended the University of Nebraska graduating with her teaching degree and. After graduation Royann worked for Miller and Paine and was a substitute teacher. She went back to school for her librarian degree, graduating from Indiana University. She received Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Betta Kappa Honors. She worked for the Arbor Society before working at Bennet-Martin Library and retired from Walt Library!
In her retirement she volunteered at libraries around Lincoln reading stories to children. She came full circle as she taught her sister to read from the funny pages in the paper. We both shared the love of reading, although not the same types of books. She loved to play trivia and card games with the family. Especially trivia as she won most of the time. She acted as a second mother to her nephew and niece. Taking her great nephews to summer activities at various Lincoln libraries. She helped her sister with her homework. In her retirement she found a passion for genealogy, becoming the go-to person for any genealogy questions. She loved spending her time volunteering for the genealogy society, reading and watching movies from the 30’s and 40’s.
She is survived by her sister, Laurie (Schroeder) Breckner, niece Nicole Hauschild (Justin); nephew Kelly Breckner; great nephews Landon and Jackson Hauschild. She is preceded by her parents, Roy and Jane (Behrens) Schroeder, grandparents Frank and Avis Behrens, and Henry and Anna Schroeder, and brother-in-law Jack Breckner.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday February 9, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St., Lincoln, NE 68512. A reception following the service will be at the Firefighters Hall at 3:30pm. Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation.
