

Russell Dwight Williams, 65, was born in York, Nebraska. Russ battled prostate cancer for 7 years and lost his battle on Monday, July 23 at 10:58 am. Russ loved to learn and to teach others about his passions: wine, cigars, and scuba diving. He was interested in current events and enjoyed reading, scuba diving, drinking wine, smoking cigars, and traveling with his wife. He will be missed by family and friends.
Russ was stationed in Milton Florida during the Vietnam War where he served his country as part of the navy.
He is survived by his best friend and wife, Irene Gonzalez Williams, mother, Barbara (Bobby) Williams, sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Frank Dickerson, sister and brother-in-law, Alexandria and Jon Maple, brother, David Williams, mother-in-law, Teresa Gonzalez, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Damaris and Daniel Polak, sister-in-law, Sunen Bush, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jaser and Davanh Gonzalez, sister-in-laws, Belkis and Sonia (Jose) Gonzalez, nieces, Emily, Robin, and Whitney, nephews, Sean, Callahan, Adam, Richard, Joel, and Gabriel, great-nieces, Stephanie, Brooklyn, Raelyn, and Emelina.
Preceded in death by father, John Williams and father-in-law, Modesto Gonzalez.
Per his wishes there will not be a memorial service. Ashes to be spread by family in a private service later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to be sent to: Lincoln Food Bank, Willard Community Center, or Fred and Pamela Buffet Cancer Center at UNMC. Condolences may be left at www.lincolnfh.com .
