Vivian Fortune was born March 7, 1927 to Earl and Martha Clausen near Burke SD. She grew up in the Bloomfield/Creighton area of Northeast Nebraska. She passed into the arms of her savior March 28, 2019 at the age of 92 at the Henderson Health Care Facility. While attending Vacation Bible School when she was 12 Vivian realized she was a sinner and needed to be saved. She then accepted Jesus as her personal savior. She attended school in Center NE and graduated from high school in 1945. From there she did teachers training and taught school 2 years in country schools in rural Nebraska. She attended Grace Bible Institute from 1947-1950. In 1950 she went into nurses training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She graduated in 1953. She was a nurse at UNMC and Creighton Hospital until she moved to Grand Junction, Colorado since her parents and brother and his wife had moved there earlier. It was there she met Felix Fortune. Their first date February 14, 1959. They were married July 3, 1959. They enjoyed 59 ½ years of marriage before Felix went home to be with the Lord November 16, 2018. While in Colorado their first daughter Joyce Elaine was born. In 1961 after her parents had moved to Lincoln NE Felix and Vivian moved to Salina Ks. Vivian stayed at home to raise her family for many years. While in Salina they added David Earl to their family in 1966. Stacey Lorraine and Joel Felix joined the family in 1970. When Joyce was in Junior High Vivian went back to work part time as a nurse. In 1978 they moved to Hickman Ne to help Vivian’s parents as they aged. After all the children had left home they moved into Lincoln. While there Vivian worked at several places as an RN including a care center, the state penitentiary and a research lab. When she was 67 she retired from nursing. They were able to take many trips to Branson and other locations with their Sunday School class at Indian Hills Community Church. They thoroughly enjoyed these trips-seeing so many new places- and being with their friends at the church. In 2011 they moved to Henderson to be closer to family. A lot of the moving process they did on their own!!! While here they were able to enjoy being closer to grand kids and great grandkids that they thoroughly enjoyed. Vivian is survived by her children Joyce (Gary) Nunnenkamp of Henderson, David (Patti) Fortune of Lincoln, Stacey Neu of Madison WI and Joel Fortune of Lincoln. She is also survived by grandchildren Andrew (Sarah) Nunnenkamp, Trevor (Anna) Nunnenkamp and Tyler (Stacey) Nunnenkamp. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and one more due in May.
