William D. Livengood (Bill) was born December 19, 1937 to William and Ruth (Silver) Livengood in Macedonia, Iowa. He was the second of four children. As a boy Bill was always hard worker and kept busy sweeping at a local store or doing farm work. When he wasn’t working he was probably playing sports. He was the quarterback on the six-man football team, on the basketball team, but he talked the most about baseball. Bill rarely made the stories about himself, as most of the stories were about a family member or a worker or what the Lord had done.
In 1957 Bill married Beverly Beaty. Married life began in the Air Force, with daughter Kelli being born while they were stationed in Spokane, Washington, and son Bill being born in Council Bluffs, Iowa when they had transitioned into civilian life and Bill worked in sales.
In 1969 Bill moved the family to Lincoln, Nebraska to start a new venture called Weathercraft Roofing. With the help of some friends and a partnership with Dwight Chandler Weathercraft not only succeeded, but spun off many other franchises and companies. In a 1986 Lincoln Journal-Star article honoring him as the Small Business Person of the Year, Bill said the secret of success, “is putting the Lord and your family ahead of your job.” He loved spending time with his family through hunting, fishing, skiing, and traveling around the world.
Bill devoted his free time to supporting many ministries, such as Lincoln Christian Couples Club, Southeast Nebraska Youth for Christ, Faith Bible College, People’s City Mission, and many other ministries.
He is preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings. Bill is survived by his wife Beverly, his daughter Kelli (Stu) Kerns, their children Lindsay (Drew), Bryson (Alicia), Sky, and grandson Max, and his son Bill, who has continued leading the Weathercraft company and tradition. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
