Antonio Silva, passed away peacefully at his home on Fri, Sept 12th, at the age of 83. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Antonio immigrated to the United States where he and his family settled in Kearny, NJ. Known and beloved in the Portuguese community as the renowned fado singer, “Tony Quim”, he pursued his passion as a musician and singer outside of his career as a liquor salesman. He performed at numerous establishments across the tri-state area, gaining many accolades along the way and solidifying his spot as one of the most reputable performers in the Portuguese folklore arena.
Tony was a family man and wonderful friend known for his sense of humor, his charisma and his charm. When Tony smiled, it made you have to smile as well. He is survived by his adoring wife, Maria ‘Filomena’ Silva, who cared for him unwaveringly until the very end, his son Peter Silva and his wife Laura, and his daughter Jessica Da Silva. He was also the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Colin and Gabriella Silva. Tony also leaves behind many friends and fans in the Portuguese communities here and abroad. He will be deeply missed but we are thankful to have his music to hold on to as well as the great memories of a great man who lived life well.
A visitation for Antonio will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at KROWICKI MCCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036. A prayer service at the funeral home will take place at 8:30 PM.
