Benjamin G. Niewinski, of Hillside, NJ passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026. Born on February 22, 1934 in Wilkes Barre, PA he was the son of the late Benjamin Andrew and Julia Anna (nee Wrona) Niewinski. Shortly after graduating from Plymouth High School in PA he would honorably serve active duty in the U.S. Navy 1955-1958. Upon his return home to the states, he relocated to New Jersey and met, who would become the love of his life, Elizabeth ‘Lori’ Kosker. They would marry on October 27, 1962 where they became life-long Hillside residents and welcomed two sons into this world. Ben worked for the A & P as a baker and later would work for the American Can Company as a line mechanic.
Ben is survived by his son Michael Benjamin, and his wife Angela, and his son Benjamin John, and his wife Liliana. Ben has three grandchildren, Michael Matthew, Nicholas James, and Alexander Joseph.
Along with his parents and loving wife, Benjamin is pre-deceased by nine siblings: Henry, Francis, Charles, Edward, Helen, Joseph, Josephine, Chester and Genevieve.
To know Ben was to love him. He was a person of strong faith and had unconditional love for his family. He adored his three grandchildren and was caught saying on more than one occasion, ‘had I known grandkids would be this good, I would’ve had them first.’ He was proud of his Polish heritage and loved being called Dzaidz(grandfather). He cherished his entire family. Ben was the epitome of a community man, lending any and all a helping hand. He would display his love by coaching his sons in both Little League and Pop Warner and continuing this passion for years to come. He was an active parishioner of Christ the King Church, and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus where he found more family. He loved the NY Mets, the KC Chiefs, watching golf, salt-water fishing, driving to his great-nephew’s restaurant, Michael’s Roscommon House, and occasional road trips to Atlantic City and Parx casinos. When he wasn’t on the move, you could find him tending to his vegetable garden, where he prepared and jarred his famous horseradish, that he shared with family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home,
