Jose Chez

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Jose Chez, age 72, on August 26th, 2025. His life was taken far too soon when he was struck by a vehicle, suffering injuries that ultimately led his heart to stop. His departure has left an unimaginable void in the hearts of his family and all who knew and loved him.

Born in Dominican Republic, Jose was the definition of a hardworking man. For more than 45 years, he devoted himself to his craft as an HVAC mechanic. But what made him stand out most wasn’t just what he could fix with his hands, but the way he guided and lifted others. He mentored countless young apprentices and freely offered advice, encouragement, and wisdom to anyone who needed it, whether they worked alongside him or not.

He earned every dollar, every achievement, through grit and hustle. Nothing was ever handed to him, and he wore that truth like a badge of honor. Yet despite his toughness, he had a heart that cared for people deeply. He gave, he listened, and he made you feel seen.

Beyond work and family, Jose found joy by the ocean. Tropical beaches called to him—whether in the Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico. He loved the sun on his face, sand between his toes, and the underwater world when he snorkeled, quietly watching the fish swim by. That was his peace, his happy place.

He was a fighter through and through—stronger than most could ever know. Even at the end, he fought with everything he had. That is how we will remember him: strong, resilient, hardworking, and full of love.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at KROWICKI MCCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME, 2124 East Saint Georges Ave, Linden, NJ 07036, where family and friends are welcome to gather, remember, and honor him.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral on Friday, September 5, 2025 , 9:00 AM from the funeral home. Funeral mass Immaculate Conception Church, Elizabeth, 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
