

He was born on March 26th, 1935, in Cali, Colombia to parents Judith and Emiliano Otero. In 1967 Luis, and the love of his life, Melida, moved their family to the United States to pursue the American dream. Settling in NJ, Luis worked as a machinist and mechanical mold designer. Most important to him was time with family and friends. He was an amazing cook, who even recently made his fabulous paella to host several dinner parties. Luis exuded goodness and was loved by everyone he met. He was a father to all, who gave generously of his time and love.
Luis is predeceased by his parents and his wife, Melida Otero Perdomo.
He survives his sons, Diego Alberto Otero and his wife, Elisabeth, Pedro Pablo Otero, grandson Diego Antonio Otero, four brothers and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral mass directly at St. Bartholomew RC Church, 2032 Westfield Ave, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076, on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11:00am. A private cremation will follow.
