Marie "Mary" Arek, 97, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 27, 2020. Mary was born on October 7, 1923 in Elizabeth, NJ. Mary was predeceased by her parents Louis and Cecilia Markowski and her three sisters and three brothers. After 28 years of marriage her husband Joseph died on January 15, 1977 and at the time was employed as the Assistant Director of Housing at the City of Elizabeth, NJ. Mary is survived by her son, Gregory Arek and his wife Gail, two grandchildren; Jeffrey Arek, his wife Kelly, and Kristen Arek, great-grandchild; Jack, who brought much recent joy to her life, and finally a family friend Maddie who is a 7 year old black pug.
A visitation for Mary will be held on Monday, January 4, 2020 from 10:00AM to the 11:00AM service at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East St. George Avenue Linden. Burial to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
