It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mario Antonio Rosario Nazario, affectionately known as Super Mario, who passed away peacefully in his home on November 26, 2024, at the age of 82.
Super Mario was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, and raised in Newark, New Jersey, where he became a beloved figure in his community. Mario was a devoted husband to his late wife, Jacinta E. Rosario, with whom he shared many years of love and partnership. He is survived by his four children: Mario T. Rosario, Antonio L. Rosario, Miguel A. Rosario, and Cindy M. Rosario. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, two brothers Enrique Nieves and Hector Serrano , as well as various nieces and nephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.
Throughout his life, Mario was known for his entrepreneurial spirit. He successfully owned and operated numerous businesses, including nightclubs, bars and bodegas, where his warmth and personality made him a familiar and respected figure to many. He had a passion for the things he loved, including his job at FedEx and his lifelong love of wrestling, which he enjoyed watching regularly.
Mario’s larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He always wanted people to know - “ Super Mario was here and gone !”. His legacy of hard work, love for family, and sense of humor will live on in the memories of those who had the privilege of knowing him. One gem of wisdom that we will always hold onto is his favorite saying “ I love you for free- it don’t cost you anything!”.
May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Jacinta.
