Melia Legerme was a woman of deep love, compassion and unwavering faith. She was known for her caring spirit and her genuine love for people, especially her family. Spending time with children and her grandchildren brought her great joy, and her warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her early years, Melia worked as a nanny, a role that reflected her natural gift for caring for children. Her love for children extended far beyond her own family. While in Haiti, she not only nurtured her own children but also lovingly cared for, fed, and supported neighboring children. Her kindness and generosity were boundless and her presence was a source of comfort to many.
In addition to her work as a nanny, Melia was also a merchant of religious crafts, sharing her faith and devotion through her work. Her life was deeply rooted in prayer, and she had a profound love for the Lord. Faith was not just a part of her life- it was the foundation of it.
Melia migrated to the United States in October 1999. She lived with both of her daughters until her time of death, surrounded by love, care and family. In her later years when she was no longer able to attend church in person, she remained steadfast in her devotion. Much of her time was spent watching Mass on television, praying the rosary, and dedicating herself to prayer. She had 3 rosaries that she prayed with daily. One of her children and grandchildren, one for all her family and friends and one for the world.
To know Melia Legerme was truly to love her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness and unconditional love. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of her family and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
