Born and raised in Elizabeth, Bob graduated Thomas Jefferson High School, before being drafted into the Army, where he served during the Vietnam War in the Quartermasters Corps at Fort Lee Virginia. A military policeman and company clerk, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Upon returning to Elizabeth, he married his high school sweetheart, MaryAnne (nee Miciak), and raised three children there. He worked for the City of Elizabeth and County of Union for many years in a variety of administrative positions. He was an accomplished musician, who had played the piano, organ, and accordion since his early childhood. Nearly every family party featured one of his amazing piano concerts.
Later in life, he moved to Brookdale Senior Living in Florham Park where he spent his last days playing piano, hosting trivia contests, and calling Bingo for his fellow residents. He was a devoted fan of the New York Football Giants and New York Yankees and attended countless sporting events with his family. He also loved spending time with his kids, grand-kids and nieces and nephews, crabbing and fishing trips to the Jersey shore, Lionel trains, Jerry’s hot dogs, and rigatoni.
He was married to his beloved wife MaryAnne (who predeceased him) for 40 years, and is survived by his son Robert M. and wife, Renee, and their children Bobby and Macy, of Morristown; Donald J. and his wife, Patricia, and their children Donny, Amelia, and Madeline, of Annandale; and his daughter Anne Spina and her husband Frank and their children Franco and Matteo, of East Williston, NY.
Memorial donations to Make A Wish New Jersey or the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
