Lisbon Falls – Barbara J. Pohle, age 93, of 29 Edgecomb Road Lisbon Falls formerly of Lisbon and Inverness, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 with family at her side. Barbara was born in Salem, Massachusetts December 13, 1928, daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth (Dennis) Huntley. Barbara was educated in Marblehead schools and graduated in the class of 1947. Barbara married Malcolm A. Pohle on September 26, 1948 in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Upon Mal’s death in 2009 they had been married for 61 years.
Barbara and Malcolm settled in Lisbon Falls in the late 1950’s to raise their family. Barbara learned to hand sew shoes at home for extra cash. As her family grew, she took a leap of faith and obtained her driver’s license in 1972. This allowed her to join L.L. Bean as a team leader at the call center until her retirement. In 1974 Barbara joined her husband and managed the Freeport Country Club for 20 years. It was during these years that Barbara took up the game of golf. She played in many local events and joined the Southern Maine Women’s Golf Association playing all over the state.
After the passing of Barbara’s beloved husband, she joined the MTM Senior Center in Lisbon Falls and was an avid cribbage player. In addition, she loved playing bingo and an occasional trip to the casino.
She leaves behind her four children; son Richard Pohle and his wife Catherine of Hatfield, PA. and Port St. Lucie, Florida; three daughters Diane Fournier and her husband Normand of Lisbon Falls, Suzanne Morneau and her husband Denis of Lisbon, Cindy Smith and her husband Norman of Durham; eight grandchildren Josef Pohle and his wife Colleen, Rebecca Aldana and her husband Albert, Matina Lerette and her husband Kevin, Jessica Maloy and her husband Patrick, Jennifer Theriault, Michelle Morneau and her partner Dana Stanley, Kyle Smith and his wife Emily and Kevin Smith and his wife Kristi; fourteen great grandchildren, Gavin Pohle, Riley Pohle, Arianna Aldana, Matteo Aldana, Katelyn Lerette Rodriquez and her husband Alexander, Nicholas Lerette, Jordyn Maloy, Sophie Maloy, Mackenzie Theriault, Zoe Theriault, Hayden Stanley, Makayla Stanley, Rein Smith, and Bode Smith; one great great grandchild, Liam Thomas Rodriquez, and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her parents and her 5 siblings.

Graveside services are scheduled for Friday June 17, 2022 at 11:30 am at Hillside Cemetery in Lisbon Falls.
