David J. Reader

David was predeceased by parents George and Barbara Reader, and brother Allen (Norma) Reader.

David is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Mari, who he married on July 8, 1978; his sister Marilyn Reader and brother John (Ali) Reader.

Lovingly remembered by nieces Heather (Chad) Johnson, Kimberley (Tim) Jones, Sheena (John) Lilly, Loran (Neil) Gibbs, Chris Reid, and nephews Rob Reader, Chris (Jenny) Reader, Hunter (Kelsie) Lilly, and Zachary (Markita) Lilly.

David graduated from Proviso West in 1968 where he was very involved in the cross-country and track teams. He was awarded a scholarship in track & cross-country to Northern Illinois University. He formed a long-lasting bond with his fellow teammates. He graduated with an engineering degree and began working at GE. After a few years David joined Otto Engineering in Carpentersville, where he worked for 30 years. Retired in 2015, David enjoyed yearly track meets and/or gatherings with his former team-mates. David is fondly remembered for his love of gardening. Mari and David spent many hours perfecting their plantings and outdoor friends. Living in the country allowing them to see nature at its best, deer running in the front yard, turtles coming to the pond, and oh, the birds they could identify. David and Mari took daily walks in their neighborhood, watching the changes in nature and catching up with neighbors.
