He was born in Aurora, Illinois, to the late Sam and Viola (Hubble) Werner, where he attended Marmion Academy, graduating with the class of 1965. After graduation, he was drafted and served overseas in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Doug had a long career in the trucking and transportation industry- he even went on to open his own truck leasing business. He was an avid fisherman, a golfer, and always had a story to tell (or one to add to). Being friendly and having a big personality, he enjoyed his work at the Arrowhead Golf Club which he did in his retirement. Doug had a great sense of humor and a big heart- he never met anyone who didn’t like him.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathy; their two children, Marcy (of Louisville, Kentucky) and Paul (of Oswego, Illinois), and his grandchildren, Ashley and Joshua. He is also survived by many friends.
Friends and family will gather for a memorial service that will take place on July 9th from 1PM-4PM at the Arrowhead Golf Club.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Blake-LambFuneralHome.com for the Werner family.
