

Born on May 23, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois, Beth lived a life defined by warmth, creativity, and a deep love for people, art, and beauty. She grew up in Clarendon Hills, Illinois, and attended Notre Dame School before graduating from Hinsdale Central High School in Hinsdale, Illinois.
Beth built a career in the art world that reflected both her eye for beauty and her gift for forming lasting relationships. She worked closely with Chicago artist Danilo Cuevas, who was not only a respected colleague but also a dear friend. Through her work, Beth developed a wide circle of friends and professional connections in Chicago and beyond.
Her love of art carried into every part of her life. Beth found joy in gardening and flowers, creating colorful and welcoming spaces that reflected her spirit. She also loved music, which brought her comfort, inspiration, and happiness throughout her life.
Beth will be remembered for her kindness, bright smile, and infectious laugh. She had a special way of making others feel welcome and cared for, and her warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Beth is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Jay Valentine; her sisters, Patricia (Geoff VanAlsburg) and Kathryn (Kevin Ferry); her brother, William Lanning; and her niece and nephews, Samuel, Christopher, William, Lauren, and Colin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Joan Lanning.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Notre Dame Church in Clarendon Hills, Illinois, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.
Beth’s memory will remain a source of comfort, love, and beauty to all who knew her.
