

Florence was born October 17, 1927, to Anna and Frank Kurzawa in Chicago. Their youngest child, Florence often said that her name was "Last of Six." She graduated from Northern Illinois Teachers’ College. In 1951 she married James Joseph Gebhardt, Jr. They welcomed two daughters, Ann Marie and Janet.
Florence enjoyed bowling, golf, and gardening. She was an active member of the Lisle Women's Club for many years. For many years she was a 4-H judge, specializing in canning. Her husband, children, and grandchildren enjoyed her jellies, baking, and cooking. An avid reader, she had a never-ending "to read" pile.
Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; daughter, Janet Kalal; grandson, Peter Wiermanski; great-granddaughter, Abigail Cain; her five siblings, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie (Michael) Johnson; grandchildren, Monica (Jason) Wiermanski Cain, Regina (Andrew) Wiermanski Ekhoff, Veronica Kalal, and James Kalal; great-grandchildren, Felicity and Nikolai Cain, and Elodie Ekhoff; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Visitation at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home on Friday, July 21, 2017, 9 a.m.- 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church-Lisle, IL on Friday, July 21, 2017, at 10 a.m.. Interment will be private at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Sunrise of Naperville Assisted Living, Edwards Hospital, and St. Patrick’s Residence for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, Marines Toys-for-Tots, the Make-A-Wish foundation, or the American Brain Tumor Association.
