Jacqueline J. Tassy

Jacqueline Tassy was born to Theophile Jacques and Madeleine Lorquet on November 27,1934 in Haiti. Raised in humble circumstances, she studied hard to make a better life for herself. She went to nursing school, met Lucien, and upon graduating, married and moved to the United States.

In 1960, they immigrated to Detroit, Michigan where Jackie's first job was as an RN at Mount Sinai hospital. In 1963, they had Gina and later moved to Chicago where she began her career at Cook County Hospital. In 1968, she had Paule and a year later had Frantz. She impressively moved up from Floor Nurse to Discharge Planner. She devoted 25 years of service to CCH before relocating to Florida when Lucien retired from Sony, Inc.

In 1990, Jackie found employment at the University of Miami as a Nurse Educator. Her greatest passion and joy was in educating and mentoring young, pregnant Haitian women diagnosed with HIV. She cared for them as if they were her own. She brought light and laughter to the workplace, gaining respect and admiration of fellow colleagues as well as her patients. In 2005, she retired to care for Lucien until his passing in 2006.

Not one to sit idle, Jackie immersed herself more in helping to raise her grandkids. She truly adored them all. In 2015, after losing her only son, Frantz, she returned to Illinois to stay with Gina and Dave until her passing on February 4th, 2024.

She was preceded by husband, Lucien (2006), and her son, Frantz (2015). She is survived by daughter, Gina (Dave) Kiel, their children Spencer (25) and Sydney (21). Daughter, Paule (nee Tassy) Buchanan and her children Sean (Anissa) Buchanan, their children La'Nya (13), CJ (12) Ja'Vari (7) Sean III (4), Simone (4) and Marissa Buchanan. Daughter-in-law, Patricia and her children, Devin (14) and Dylan (12).

A Memorial Visitation for Jacqueline will be held on Saturday February 24 from 11 AM until time of Memorial Service 1 PM at Blake - Lamb Funeral Home 5015 Lincoln Ave., Lisle.
