

She was born on August 8, 1922, in Little Rock to Hyman Burta and Clara Weintraub Burta. A lifelong resident, Cecile lived a full and vibrant life. She was known for her quick wit, generous spirit, and deep love for her family.
Cecile enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, playing mahjong, traveling-especially to Kansas City and Houston, and cruising. She loved cooking for her family and could always be found watching Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, where she rarely missed a correct answer.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Irvin “Buddy” Schweig; her parents, her sister, Rosalie Wexner and nephew Alfred Wexner, and sisters-in-law, Rosalie Forman, Mildred Golden, Ruth Itzkowitz, Selma Koenig, Eleanor Gross, and Mary Lou Cohn.
Cecile is survived by her loving daughters, Paula Schweig, Lynn Schweig, and Jan Schweig Coppersmith (Martin); and by her cherished granddaughters, Rachel and Lisa Coppersmith. In addition, she leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. The family is most grateful for the loving care provided by Angela.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Oakland Jewish Cemetery, 2101 Barber Street, Little Rock, AR 72206.
Cecile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Congregation Agudath Achim Little Rock, AR; The Greater Kansas City Section of National Council of Jewish Women, or the charity of one's choice.
