

Dorothy Stuart Dodson, 85, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died on September 3, 2022. She was born on January 15, 1937, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Frank and Emily Stuart. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marjorie Lenehan. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas F. Dodson, Jr.; her sons Thomas E. “Ted” Dodson and Michael (Susan) Dodson of Little Rock; her brother, Frank Stuart, of Pensacola, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College in 1958 with a Bachelor of Home Economics.
She married Tom on June 20, 1958. Tom’s career took them to various places in the Midwest and Texas before settling in Little Rock. While raising her family, Dorothy managed The Red Door Thrift Shop, a part of Youth Home, Inc. and drove a 15 passenger school bus for The Cathedral School. In later years, she worked for the Pulaski County Election Commission and also volunteered for various groups. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church all of her adult life and was a founding member of the Inquirer’s Sunday school class. She was active in the Women’s Circle for many years. Dorothy was part of the team that worked countless hours on the multiple stained glass windows that are part of the church’s sanctuary. It was a project that she truly enjoyed being a part of.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, September 11th, from 3-5pm at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W 12th St, Little Rock, AR 72204. Funeral Services will be Monday, September 12th at 1pm at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth with interment following at Roselawn Memorial Park, 2801 Asher Ave Little Rock, AR, 72204.
