

Bernadine Lemon Glover passed away on July 11, 2016. Born on August 20, 1922 in Little Rock, Arkansas, Bernie was the daughter of Blanche Smith Lemon and Josef Fenton Kramer Lemon. She married Gilbert Louis Glover in 1946 in Little Rock. During the early years of their marriage Gil's work took them to Chicago, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, Louisiana, and Texas. They returned to Arkansas in 1958 and thereafter made their home in Little Rock. Bernie was active in Democratic politics where she served as a member of the Pulaski County Democratic Committee. She attended many national Democratic conventions and was a delegate to the 1972 convention in Miami, Florida. In 1992, she accompanied her husband and daughter, both of whom were delegates, to the Democratic convention in New York to see Bill Clinton nominated. Bernie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the First Christian Church where she was an active participant in its food pantry ministry for many years. She enjoyed the friendships formed at the Little Rock Garden Club. In 2004, Bernie decided to move to Parkway Village. Wherever she was, Bernie made friends and participated in many activities in the Parkway community. She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her son Gilbert L. Glover II and his wife Paula Casey of Little Rock; by her daughter Vickie Barnes and her husband Dr. Larry Barnes of Neosho Missouri; and her daughter Cathy Nicolas of Little Rock. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Dr. Lindsey Barnes (John Perry) of Fayetteville; Rachel Dobbs (Spencer Dobbs) of Joplin, Missouri; Michaels Barnes of Neosho, Missouri; Alex Barnes of Joplin, Missouri; Christopher Nicolas of Fayetteville; and Erica Nicolas of Fayetteville. She has one great grandson, Rowan Dobbs of Joplin, Missouri, and a "son" in affection, Edward Cooper of Little Rock. Visitation will be held at noon on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Griffin Leggett Healy and Roth, 5800 West 12th Street, with services immediately following at 1:00 p.m. in the Griffin Leggett Chapel. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. The family requests memorials to Carelink's Meals on Wheels, 706 West Fourth Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114 or to Arkansas Hospice.
