

Jewele Marice Matthews passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 6 surrounded by her beloved family and her baby dog, Gus. Jewele is predeceased by her father John T Lynn, mother Marie Hamm, and her husband John Pope Matthews. She is survived by her daughter Monique Lynn Larsen (Cypress, TX) and her son Christopher Lynn Jones (Little Rock, AR).
Jewele was born in Garrett,Indiana. She was raised in Chicago, Ill, where she attended St. Scholitica High School. She then attended Nothwestern to pursue her degree in art. She completed her degree later in life at the University of Arkansas Little Rock. Jewele had a great love and admiration for art. She was a key visionary for the Beaux Arts Ball now known as Tabriz at the Arkansas Arts Center. She had a tremendous love for animals and never met a dog she did not like, aka the Poodle Lady. Jewele took part in several charitable groups including La Modern, St Vincents Auxilliary and numerous other volunteer opportunities. She was a life-long member of the Country Club of Little Rock, where she developed many of her dear friendships. She attended Holy Souls Church and participated in the Seniors Group and numerous other activities. To say Jewele loved to travel would have been an understatement. She visited numerous continents including a trip to Peru to visit Machu Pichu.
Jewele will always be remembered for her kind demeanor, her sense of humor, and her outpouring of love. The family would like to thank Latosha Reynolds and Jackie Miles of SeniorKare, and all those involved with Arkansas Pallative Care and Arkansas Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Jewele during her decline.
A Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church, 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, Jewele requested donations may be made to the The Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind, the Little Rock Animal Village, and the Pulaski County Humane Society.
