I extend my deepest condolences to you on the passing of Lucia. I was in National School in Dromcollogher with Lucia. I know she would have made a wonderful nurse & mother. The photographs here really bring her to mind. Sarah & Anneke, know that she will walk beside you every day of your lives.

Dear Sarah,  Anneke and Eric how sad I am to be writing this on Lucy 's memorial. I'm so sorry for your loss and as devastating as it is you were all so fortunate to have had her  for a mother and a wife in your lives for the time that you did.. I trained with Lucy in Jervis Street. I didn't really know her well as Lucy was hanging out in a different group. We all interviewed for staff nurse positions at the UAMS and Hannah, Lucia and me took off to Little Rock Arkansas together. boarded a flight in Dublin on Delta Airlines Oct 17th 1989.
After that the 3 of us we were inseparable. 
I never lived with Lucy before but Hannah drew the short straw and Lucy and I had  to share a room together in a 2 bedroom apt on Green Mountain drive. 2 single beds on opposite side of the room. Let's just say we got on like a house on fire as long as Lucy didn't take my boyfriends on me ( thank god 🙏 Eric u came along 😁)  we partied,nightclubbed, worked,shopped and blaguarded one another and just had a blast. We bought a toyato corolla between the 3 of us and our first trip to memphis to see gracelands it broke down half way to memphis 😁😫!! Later on we all bought our own cars.  Lucy and I bought 2 sports Ford probes. Lucy,s was blue and mine was white. We thought we were the coolest chick's with our sports car and flick up lights. 😄
Lucy was beautiful inside and out. She always called my by my nickname Biddy. I loved her, gentle, kind loving ,sweet as could be, a bit of a devil and great fun.. I'm so grateful 🙏  I got to speak with her a couple of days before she died.  I mentioned  would she move back to ireland eventually and she said. 'Biddy how could I leave my beautiful girls' She adored you both.  I hope I get to meet you and tell you more stories about your wonderful mother. May she rest in peace surrounded by the angels in heaven as simply Lucy was an angel herself. Will always love ❤️ you luc. Thinking of you all and sending..heart-felt hugs 🫂

Deepest sympathy to Lucia’s family on the passing of their beautiful mother at such a young age. I met her when she was in training school with my daughter Linda. She spent many weekends with my family in TULLAMORE and I found her a sweet gentle girl. May she rest in peace RIP.

I'm am forever grateful to have known her. My heart hurts as the world is a sadder place without her in it. Lucia was a very special person that touched so many peoples lives. If you met her you will never forget her. I will miss you always my sweet friend. It was an honor. May she RIP. My condolences to her daughters as I know this was a tough blow. Just know she is ever present in spirit and will be with you and around you when you need her most.  She is surely missed...

My Condolences to Erik and Lucys two Lovely daughters. I worked as a nurse in little Rock 91, 92 and have fond memories of sweet Lucy. We lived together for a little bit. Full of life and fun to be with😋

My deepest sympathy to Lucia’s family at this very difficult time x I was thinking of you all today at Kitty’s funeral. As Lucia went to America to pursue her nursing career and I grew up in London, are paths never really crossed but I met her again at her father Toms funeral and we reconnected. We sat opposite one another after the funeral and had many things in common and we were told that we had a family resemblance! There is a family trait that runs through our family and that is the love of animals and that connection came to light on the day that I met Lucia. We chatted and chatted and we left with a full sense of knowing one another. My Dad (Kitty’s brother Eugene) was very fond of his sister and they would have regular chats! I am very sorry for Lucia’s untimely death but you can rest assured that she was a lovely lady, a dedicated mother and family Orientated person.

Dearest Sarah and Anneka,

The words I have will do very little to ease your pain.
However, Please know how loved Lucia has always been by her Jervis Street family, 
I and Ger always called her “ Luscious” and that possibly sums her up in our hearts.
Lucia was far more than a class mate,  she was very much loved and was as fabulous inside as she was outside.
I can’t imagine how heartbroken you and your family are.

Then, Lucia and the gang that went to Arkansas 
 put their trip on hold to come to our wedding, which was 34 years ago today, 5/10/89.
We lost touch for a while, and then one night Lucia called, the call lasted almost two hours,
And with that we were back in contact it was as if we had parted a few weeks ago 
We kept in regular and constant contact via WhatsApp with almost daily if not weekly messages 
All of the Jerv Family are so sad to hear this news 
.We’re totally heartbroken so can’t possibly  imagine your loss of such a wonderful mum who was so proud of you both.
.We had planned to call out to meet you all early in 2024 as Lucia was so thrilled at how well she had recovered -

Sarah,  Anneke and Lucia’s family, my sincerest sympathy to you all on Lucia’s passing.
 I have great memories of our fun filled, care free times as student nurses and housemates in ‘80’s Dublin . 
Post training we all went our separate ways, but I was delighted to reconnect with Lucia  via the Jerve WhatsApp group.
Lucia was a special person: caring and kind, brave and determined, she had a gorgeous smile and was great fun too .

Probably the one person in the world that every one could agree on. You were the kindest and sweetest person ever.

Lucy and I met in Jervis Street Nursing school 1985.
Our training was very very strict. The Matron lived  in the Nurses home with us, every morning  checking that our uniform, veils and shoe laces were perfect. Curfew 9 pm. Sharp. We had to ask for permission to go home for our 1 night off a week. It was often refused due to not "asking "for it the right way.  We broke all the rules of course and got in lots of trouble. Lucia in the thick of it all! Through lots of laughter  we survived the militant training. Lucia got the highest marks in our final exam! We worked hard and partied hard. Next stop, Little Rock Arkansas,  where we continued with the work hard, party hard ethic. Lucia also dated my brother for 2 years and broke his heart when she galavanted off to the US.  
6 of us newly qualified Nurses came to UAMS, Little Rock Arkansas together. 
We all loved and embraced our new adventure.  Out on party barges, ski boats, cabins in Ponca, floating the Buffalo  river, dancing hard at Discovery night club, house parties, Texas holdem , Golds Gym in our serious workout clothes , eyeing up the talent , Shorty Smalls , Landry's for Long Island ice teas , breakfast in the Waffle House at 4 am, trips to Memphis to see Graceland,  New Orleans in the spur of the moment, work throw in the mix. 
Then Lucia met a hunky Dutch guy on a waterpolo scholarship at USLR called Eric and she was smitten!!! the rest is history with her pride and joy, 2 beautiful girls. We all began to disburse from Little Rock and find our own way in life. We saw less and less of each other.  I was delighted when we reconnected on WhatsApp a few years ago, the Jervis Street/Little Rock crew were connected once again. We were in touch constantly. The news of her pancreatic cancer devastated us. 
She fought hard, was so positive and brave and had great family support. I was looking forward to seeing her in December, just not meant to be. 
My deepest sympathies to Anneka, Sarah Eric and family.

My friend Lucy and I arrived in Little Rock on October 1989, a life time ago from Ireland to work at UAMS . We popped in and out of each other’s lives over the years .  Last September Lucy called me from the ER with absolutely heart wrenching news. We had come quite close over the past year, there was not a day go by that I did not hear from her. Lucy was a angel, incredible kind and genuine decent human being. I cannot express how much I will  sorely miss my dearest friend Lucy.

I met Lucia in 1990 in LR with other Irish friends when i was living in LR. I believe Lucia was the kindest person I have ever met in my life. She was beautiful outside & inside with her beautiful smile. We were keeping in touch for the last 28 years. Everyone loved Lucia. I was so shocked when I heard of her death and I still can’t believe she is gone. My sincere condolences to her two young beautiful daughters. It is not easy to lose a friend like her, but I believe she is in a better place. I will miss you Lucia.

I loved working with Lucia in the PACU. I’m so sorry for your loss. I remember her talking about her daughters when my daughter was just a baby. Prayers for her family.

I am a better person for having met Lucia. She was a kind and gentle person. She loved her life of giving and caring for others. It was evident in the gentle manner she cared for her charges. My deepest sympathy for her family for the void her loss brings. Her faith was her guidepost and she is now at peace with the Father bringing her gentleness to the heavens. Her light will always shine.
