Melvin Louis Purvis, 77, of Little Rock passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017. He was born February 5, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Kansas to the late Thornton Snyder Purvis and Katharine Edwidge Terry Purvis. He retired from the Veteran's Administration and from the United States Naval Construction Battalions, better known as the Seabees. He is a long time member of St Theresa's parish. He is preceded in death by his wife of forty seven years, Robbie Jo Purvis and one son, Jonathan David Purvis. He is survived by his children, Robert, Elaine, Ann, Mike, Charles, Steve, Joe and Rachel. He has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that meant a lot to him. A visitation-rosary will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Little Rock, Arkansas.
